What is microblading?
Microblading is a semi-permanent makeup technique used to achieve natural looking, long-lasting, defined brows. Pigment is inserted into the top layer of the skin (epidermis) using a manual tool. Your brow artist creates individual hairstrokes that mimic the look of real hair with a custom shape and pigment colour that suit your face.
Benefits of microblading:
-
Hyper-realistic hair strokes and natural looking result
-
Save time and money on makeup
-
Safe and sterile procedure
-
Not permanent; ideal as it allows you to change your brows in the future as trends and your preferences change
How is it different than a tattoo?
Microblading differs from traditional tattoos in many ways. Microblading is done with a manual tool, only deposits pigment in the upper layer of the skin, and uses pgiments specifically formulated to mimic real hair colour.
Who is it for?
Microblading is best for normal to dry skin with small pores. Healed results from oily skin are often poor and blurry, as it does not retain the pigment. In addition to skin condition, the following individuals should NOT get microblading:
-
Breastfeeding or pregnant
-
Compromised immune system
-
Suffer from Type 1 Diabetes
-
On Accutane
-
On blood-thinners
-
Very low iron
-
Undergoing active chemotherapy
-
Individuals with skin conditions on or near the brow area (eczema, rosacea, dermatitis, shingles, etc.)
-
Prone to keloid scarring
-
Individuals who have just had Botox/fillers near the eyebrows (Microblading service must be done 4 weeks before or after Botox/fillers)
-
Currently undergoing laser regenerative treatments on their face
-
Individuals with a fresh sunburn on brow area
-
Large and deep scarring on their eyebrows, usually due to burns or tragic accidents (Note: small scars such as old eyebrow piercings or tiny childhood accidents are not an issue.)
-
Individuals with dark previous brow tattoo/PMU - previous work must be at least 70-80% faded
-
Individuals under the age of 18
